Critical materials, such as titanium, are key building blocks in many industries. Titanium, known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and heat tolerance, is a vital material in aerospace, defence, bio-medical and oil & gas manufacturing. It has become more widely used in the production of key components, and global demand is rising.
In the wake of the widespread supply chain disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic, compounded by further disruption arising due to sanctions in place, industries have been facing unprecedented supply chain challenges. One of the biggest challenges has been the shortage of titanium. The demand for titanium is growing steadily, and as technology evolves and machining techniques improve, titanium is likely to play an even more significant role in shaping the future of aerospace and defence manufacturing.
Gould Alloys works with a number of OEMs to provide agile titanium supply chain strategies to respond to their customer demand and mitigate the impact of titanium shortages. It maintains a strategic stockpile of critical titanium products and product forms to ensure a consistent supply.
Graeme Parkinson, Senior Manager, Aerospace & Defence, Gould Alloys Ltd said, “In the aerospace and defence sectors, where precision, strength, and durability are non-negotiable, titanium stands as a material of choice. Its remarkable strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, heat tolerance, and biocompatibility offer numerous advantages.”
He continued, “At Gould Alloys, we are committed to supporting the aerospace, defence, bio-medical, and oil & gas industrial markets with a sustainable titanium and titanium alloy supply chain. The newly added products and product forms to our portfolio have already been welcomed by a number of Primes, and we look forward to offering customers tailor-made titanium supply chain solutions from Q2 2025.”
